Symbols- the Rose walk was use to signify beauty but as the novel progress it became a symbol of death and respair and the passage of time. It aslso reflects Old Delhi.
The gramaphone symbolized comfort and stability to Baba.
The Hyder Ali's symbolised hope and a new and better way of life for Raja.
Imagery- The author used imagey to show the readers the different symbols and they give the readers a mental of the evironment.
Poin-of-view- the point of view of the novel changes as the chapters change. The main characters got a chance to tell of how their child hood to adulthood was affected by the different circumstancses that happened.
